Normally it will trigger a licensing change as it's lots of changing hardware, but I might be mistaken. Why do you need to change otherwise? All it mostly does is expose PCIe so you can assign PCIe devices directly (like a GPU etc) You can...

Complicated solution to an easy problem. Proxmox should just remove the MiB. Instead, do it like most other software. Allow the user to input Number X plus M or G. Like 512M or 4G.

not really - needrestart already comes with a list of "special" units/.. preloaded, it just doesn't know about PVE/PBS/PMG services ;) this is also the case for any other custom service you run that has special requirements, out of the box...
