It would be a temporary extension. Basically it is exactly the same what "replace" does if the old drive is still connected, just more "manually".
$ man zpool-replace

Replaces device with new-device. This is equivalent to...
Hello.
I wanted to mention, since we had a very similar issue.
We have many huawei 1288H v5 servers, and many having IO issues.
I followed this thread because it looked like our issue.
But at the end it was a faulty Firmware on Micron SSDs
We...
Hello everyone,
I recently wanted to understand the impact of an expired certificate on a Proxmox node and on a Proxmox cluster. To test this, I modified the certificate validity period so that the node certificate expired yesterday.
After the...
Well, it includes the additional (possibly important!) steps for a boot device. Of course you don't need to execute those for a pure data pool ;-)
There are just much too many optional steps to include all of of them in the official reference...
Switch off VM. Go to VM "options" "boot order" and edit. Put that virtual CD drive with Live ISO into first place, usually "ide2". Then start VM and it should boot from CD.
Hello this is probably a dumb question but I'm having trouble understanding how to do this. I have an Ubuntu server VM that I accidentally gave 3000GB of space instead of 300GB and the partition I'm trying to shrink inside the VM is an LVM that's...
At work, been migrating 13th & 14th-gen Dell VMware clusters over to Proxmox Ceph. Swap out the PERC RAID controllers for Dell HBA330s IT-mode controllers, since Ceph/ZFS don't work with RAID controllers.
If I was buying new, I will go with...
Are some AMD generations generally free of this issue? I also ran into the same reset problem with an RX 5500 XT, so I'm wondering if it's still affecting newer RDNA cards or if I was just unlucky with that particular setup.
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N3150 @ 1.60GHz
after kernel 7.0 upgrades, I got hit by this GPU purging bug thingy ;( I've been hit with it before, can't recall what I changed back then.
I had like 50% RAM free in a 16GB system, yeah seemed swap (on...
After this point I would add this:
If possible, stop the VMs and LXCs.
Or before powering down the server disable autostart of VMs and LXCs.
To reduce the load of the host and the risk.
When I try to login at the physical console, after entering root at the login prompt and pressing enter, it returns me right back to the login prompt again. No prompt for password.
What about physical console? It's possible that you ran out of space.
Blockbridge : Ultra low latency all-NVME shared storage for Proxmox - https://www.blockbridge.com/proxmox
I tried to SSH from putty. I'm allowed to enter the password but immediately get a popup from putty saying 'Remote side unexpected closed network connection.'
@kayson just told you that Debian (which PVE is built on top of) is testing GlusterFS 11.2 three months ago.
Since Proxmox VE 8.4, the 6.14 kernel has been made available as an option. This kernel version is derived from Ubuntu 25.04.
(Source...
I had this working perfectly on a lower version. I think 0.8 or 0.9 of PDM and my PVE servers were version 8. Now they are both version 9.2.3 and PDM version is 1.1.1 I get the same error when I try to migrate a vm/lxc from host 1 to host 2 or...
Oh....there are a lot of things that you clearly don't understand neither, which I've already outlined previously.
I mean, you're literally arguing with the ceph devs - to which I say, "good luck with that one".
e.g. middleware
(Which you can...
100% agree.
My point is that Proxmox dropping support for Gluster because QEMU is dropping the libgfapi where it treats it as a block device rather than as a FUSE-base client just provides more data demonstrating the silliness of Proxmox...
