Okay, okay, you got me with that. I should probably have read the Bugzilla report more carefully. Also someone already gently nudged it again yesterday. ;)
But one more perhaps stupid question before I disappear: what about that Red Hat guide...
Hi,
first of all, do you have any SDN configuration on the PVE host or is the Container just connected to the default bridge of the host?
If both are on the same bridge: Does ssh work from the proxmox host to the outside server?
Otherwise, could...
I ran Get-FileHash "C:\Path\To\Your\file.iso" -Algorithm SHA256 in Powershell on my PC and the checksum matched. I downloaded the PDM ISO from the Proxmox website.
It has been sitting since Thursday and it is still stuck at 66%.
I am...
I mentioned it the ticket and here multiple times. It is in the ticket.
Proxmox GmbH needs to just implement this. Red Had has a "set-clock" in QEmu Guest Agent.
That is not as awesome as the VMware solution but - we in this thread and in the...
I mean, yeah, the discussion is kind of pointless as long as nobody comes up with a specific proposal for how to actually fix the problem, which you apparently don't have either. And no, "VMware does it", "NTP is bad", or "using the hardware...

No worries, I don't need anybody to defend me. Plus, I didn't read the thread very carefully or I would have seen that the OP was using NTP but noted that his issue was the gap between VM startup and when NTP noticed the wrong time.

I'm not denying that there are situations where this can be critical. Although in such cases, you might simply avoid making any changes to the VM until you have a maintenance window, put the application into maintenance mode, take the snapshot...
So, what is the question then?
I mean, your post isn't providing any concrete suggestions on how to fix it eitehr. And If it did, it would probably be better placed in the existing Bugzilla report.
Complaining, "nagging", and statements such as...

You have to configure NTP to correct the time when the delta is large, else it won't correct this problem. How you do that varies by NTP server. For chrony you need something like "makestep 0.1 -1" in the config file.
Apparently you don't all...

Yes. A detailed explanation is on the alldiscoveries.com site linked in that thread, which suggests 2M since it's the Hyper-V default, though that post you quoted suggests the 8M. YMMV I guess. 2M solved the issue for us.
