Hi!
I am trying to upgrade a server ver. 3.3 to 3.4 (and later to 4.x). Original install from ISO in VM, no subscription...
/etc/apt/sources.list

apt-get dist-upgrade
What am I missing to upgrade to 3.4? I think I am...
No. PBS is tolerant: any "normal" filesystem is sufficient. It just stores a large number of 4 MiB "large" files. That's all it does...
Edit: https://pbs.proxmox.com/docs/storage.html#disk-management -- mentions ext4 and xfs...
Hello everyone,
I hope I’m not creating a duplicate thread.
On PBS 4.2.0, equipped with an LTO-9, I have no issues with kernel 6.17.13-11, whereas with 7.0.x it isn’t recognised.

Thanks, the only concern was that i have over 50TB of zfs pool data on my pve. on my backup server i don't know if I have enough drives to get a zfs pool that size up, which is why i originally went with unraid (ability to use diff drive sizes)...
I'm pretty sure PBS only backs up to ZFS datastores. Edit: PBS is tolerant of any "normal" filesystem (per UdoB below).
But I don't understand your concern. ZFS is, I think, the best way to make leftover drives into one or more pools, even...
As for Linux, I suppose shim is replaced using apt or something similar, but judging from other threads, I’m a bit concerned about whether it will work properly.

dumb question, i have my zfs data pool on my proxmox pve, this tool looks exactly what i am looking for. I had been rsyncing to an older unraid xfs array server. If I were to get rid of the unraid server and put PBS on it, would it then need to...
First extend the Phyisical Volume to the extents of the partition: pvresize /dev/sda3
Check with pvdisplay if the PV Size is now correct.
Find out the LV Path of the logical volume you want to resize with lvdisplay | grep Path.
Extend the Logical...
Thanks for your reply.
I'm asking as in the storage matrix LVM snapshots are no longer marked with a 5, but then in the link it says its still in tech preview.
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage
AFAIK, in the past, the preview state was lost when a new major update was released, e.g. ZFS was introduces in 3.2 as a tech preview and out of preview in PVE 4.0
