For my part this explains everything. It's not implemented on the NetApp side yet. And NFS 4.2 is need afaik.

Less writes inside the VM and therefore less write amplification and maybe better (write) performance on the ZFS (or BTRFS or similar) of the Proxmox host? This will probably be true when everything goes well (unlike the scenario I mentioned...
If the VM unexpectedly and suddenly goes down (because you pressed Stop, a driver or KVM bug, or a complete power loss) then the ext4 inside the VM might be more broken than when journaling was enabled.

Hallo,
I hit this issue with a new build on HPE DL360 8SFF GEN11 servers on the latest kernel with all available updates in the no-subscription repository installed. Rolling back to 6.14 using the instructions in #11 resolved it.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide how much I care about avoiding write amplification and maxing write performance for this project. I'll be backing up the contents with rclone once or twice a day. It's also on an HDD pool, so I'm not concerned about...
Hello, yes my router does work as a dhcp-server, most the devices in my network are dhcp and yes the host can ping external and internal ip's.

Hi just checking in here, if I have a VM that is like 300GB in size and my local Cache is just 256GB ( a dedicated Disk) will I still be able to restore that 300GB VM or is this a limitation?
