Related to the DHCP setup. When changing to DHCP, the hosts file can be auto updated with the available script. How about DNS? Do I just remove the DNS that was setup during the initial install prior to moving it to a new location?
Just because a vendor does it, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Vendors sell some shady stuff and it works, most of the time. Most VMware clusters, even relatively large ones indeed have a storage design that basically resembles DRBD, mdraid or...
ive got PVE 9.1.1 & PBS 4.1.0. im getting "permission check failed". guys im aware that i NEED to run the PBS in another box but can it FUNCTION on the same box?. im testing the concept before pulling out the 2nd bare metal. heres what ive setup...
This is true for their storage stack but sadly (see discussions in this thread) not for their container/vm stack. Regarding a potential partnership I really don't know. On one hand it would be definitively in the interest of many customers but...
As usual with licensing in general - it depends. If you are an enterprise with an existing agreement - check your agreement. You may need volume licenses, software assurance, and if you are remotely accessing or using Office in VM/VDI style, you...
I'm guessing you run a single node setup then, with the RAID6 on it ?
Just make the RAID6 a LVM pv, to host a lvmthin volume for your VMs if so, I guess you could even do it fully in the UI :P
I take it you are only considering VMs and by that I mean what their virtual NICs get plugged into.
When it comes to VLANs, I think that if a device only needs an access port (single VLAN) then the tagging should be done by the network port...
Hey guys!
I need one home server here, and my hardwares has no onboard video, so i need one offboard card.
Just for poweron the machine and install proxmox, i dnt need any 3d video card.
So, my searching found the ST425 Pcie X1 AST2400. Only...
Good luck and please post back here if you get issues. Most of us here have feet in many camps - be sure to put a suitable PVE spin on it here and vice versa at OPNSense 8)
It shouldn’t see a difference in hardware, particularly if using a generic CPU type, so wouldn’t know. You still need licensing to use it in a VM, e.g. Business Premium.
Yeah, this is what I was wondering. It's a W11 Pro VM, Windows Server is not involved. Was wondering what would happen when the VM is eventually migrated. It's always going to be on the same VM, but on another machine. Not so much worried...
I'll certainly check, but nothing came up in my searches. Heck, I've even asked all knowing AIs and they keep giving me info for the wrong models.
Servus!
If you flash a raid controller into HBA Mode, its not a "true" HBA where the Drives are presented to the Bios for boot. Thats the downfall with flashed raid cards.
Thats why i used the method of splitting the grub into two parts, where the boot...
I've tried both suggestions above.
When I forward a hub to the VM, it sees the hub but nothing I connect to it.
If I forward the ports, it works for an hour, after which they're no longer recognized by Proxmox.
So it doesn't seem to matter...
I'm planning on setting this up tomorrow. After testing, the plan is to use the embedded dual SD card slots to boot Proxmox and keep the rest of the system on the HDDs, without replacing the DVD drive with an SSD, which wouldn't be redundant...
