I have a 6 drive ssd (prosumer) zfs with out any zil etc
Random performance is poor I wonder i should add one of these slog zil drives etc?
I have ordered another 32 GB ram (takes it to 64gb)

the machine is an older hp 380 gen8 used for 3 virtual machines. (2 windows 1 linux)

Or anything else i should do to improve performance.
The zfs was created at install time with all default settings

Many Thanks for any guidance

James

This does not tell us anything. Look for a "fio"-example here in the forum for a proper test.

Generally: RaidZ1/Z2 drops IOPS equivalent to a single drive. For a VM environment striped mirrors ("Raid10") are recommended.
