FYI I'm a noob to proxmox and Debian for that matter so please be patient.
I've had a homelab for a years now running esxi and recently made the switch. I have a LXC running a plex server and added a ZFS pool (only one disk) on the host shared with samba. I did get it up and running but a couple of times now, the share goes down and I see the health suspended. It says to run zpool clear 'pool name', but when I do, I lose my command promt and it just seems to hang. Everything I type shows up but nothing happens. I have to close the session and reopen it to be able to do anything. I should say this is on a USB drive cause the server didn't have room for a 3.5" drive. Only thing I can do is reboot the host which sucks cause the plex LXC won't shut down or power off, just get the endless spinning wheel and if I try from the shell it also just hangs. Should I be running truenas or something else for the share?

Any help or advice is apprciated.

USB is not a stable option for a server, especially spinning drives. You could try external SSD, but honestly you'd be better off going with a server case that has capacity for drive expansion.
