Hey everyone! Specific question and…based on the research I’ve done..may not be possible and I may have to start over. Ideas are welcome!
Using:
Dell R710 with a raid controller set in “IT Mode” to pass through my drives.
So I use proxmox 7.x.x. I have a truenas set up that I imported over forever ago.
I made the raid z1 in truenas as I was learning, didn’t know any better(and still learning haha).
Now to today. I want to make a vm Ubuntu Server (already done) and use casaOS and docker, etc. I like the GUI more and want more customizations and freedom.
My question is, is it even possible to see the raid z1 of my 6tb of data from before in the new casaOS? I already passed the drives through and while it recognizes them, nothing shows. I assume this is due to truenas making the original raid z1.
I already backed up all the data to a 8tb drive. Is this just a “delete old raid and start over” task? Or is there a way to migrate?
I also want to know if I can attach the raid z1 to proxmox instead so I can control where it goes. When I tried to make a ZFS it says I can’t due to using a hardware raid. I dont quite understand it.
Can provide pictures tomorrow if needed.
Thanks!
Mike
