Good day.

Installed:
OS: MS Windows Server 2016 Standard. Latest updates installed.
Windows VirtIO Drivers: virtio-win-0.1.266

Trying to update Windows VirtIO Drivers to 0.1.271, but it gives an error. I've tried mounting the CD-ROM (iso image) and simply running virtio-win-guest-tools.exe, but it doesn't work. Tested on several virtual machines, still the same.

Never had any problems with Windows VirtiO Drivers updating before. Always updated without any problems.

What are the options for a solution?

Not sure why you would need to update the drivers on a working (?) system, all the time.

There is a newer 0.1.285 version available.

I believe this matches your experience.

Maybe see here also.

I'm installing 0.1.271 because it's 100% stable.

Actually, the question is, is there a way to make it happen for many years in a row: just install a new version on top and everything is updated?

If not, then maybe someone has found an option that exactly prevents a normal update. It's just that it would always be like this, but this is the first time for me in 7 years.
