Good day everyone,

i am having some issues with the aforementioned version of proxmox and a window7x64 installation.

This is the output of my pveversion -v:

lxcfs: 2.0.0-pve2
cgmanager: 0.39-pve1
criu: 1.6.0-1
zfsutils: 0.6.5-pve9~jessie

Basically the issue is that i am unable to install windows 7 in no way on my proxmox installation. I am kind of a noob with proxmox so be gentle please...

The tests i have performed are:
  • Installation with Virtio drivers: i have tried the installation with several Virtio driver version (0.1.96, 0.1.102, 0.1.105, 0.1.117); the VM boots to the installation procedure flawlessly and the system prompts me to browse for drivers as no storage devices are found so i navigate in (for instance) D:\viostor\w7\amd64\ and press OK and the system highlights the drivers and when i press next the installation starts but apparently the system is unable to find any storage device.
  • I have also tried to install windows with all the other possible storage options: IDE, SATA, SCSI... no results... I don't understand what i am doing wrong. I have tried several windows 7 ISO but none of them seems to be able to install
  • I have tried using both the ZFS-local and the local storage in the hope of finding a workaround but none of those worked for me
  • I have tried using windows10x64 and it works like a charm
  • I have tried to migrate an old windows 7 machine from an old proxmox installation and it works correctly
I am running out of solutions over here guys... i might be overlooking something but i fail at pinning it down.
Could it be i am using a win7 image which is too old? i really do not know what to do more here.

Thanks for the help

Hmm, looks likes you have strange Win7 ISO. I've setuped just under three weeks ago a Windows7 template for us. Works like a charm. Had no problem with. I install directly with virtio drivers. I don't know the version this time, but i will have a look at Friday. With some other ISOs i was also not able to install win7pro. I don't know why, but yes there are really differnt win7 ;) Please post your VM.conf here, maybe something is wrong.

Solved because i have come to discover that in the end the windows7 images were probably not "proxmox approved" :). Although it is pretty strange because i have used those images on my home server and on numerous VMs on previous versions. Would be cool to discover what was wrong in my images... but nevermind... thanks for the help
