Hi,

I've used proxmox as my server for long time and I have dedicated RADEON RX6400 for windows vm for media purpose. Before I made it, I read a lot etc. and lastly it successfuly passthrough.
Problem is that when try play game, f.e. cyberpunk, performance's drasticly drop! fps are very low and it's not playable. On resource monitoring CPU is 100% and gpu is bored.
This gpu is not buggy for reset etc..

What i noticed is that when reinstall system and don't update anything, games working fine!! after any update/install dedicated drivers from adrenaline then performance drop. So I create snapshot with fresh installer and from time to time restore it but this not reslove problem.

I have some time ago rx 570 with passthrough and It's working fine with newest drivers for long time... but now have same issues like with rx6400.

It's possible that newewst version of proxmox broke it?

I give up but maybe you have some expirience with that issue?

How long have you had the problem? Maybe its linked to latest kernel 6.8? If it is - you could try pinning to the old 6.5 kernel & see if that fixes your issue?

Hmm I learned to passthrough GPU in November/December 2023 and it worked. I played cyberpunk normally with high settings without any issues (on RX570). In January/February I bought rx6400 and swap it and do update proxmox/vms and issue come to these two gpu. After that I reinstaleed/tryied everykind of config in BIOS, grub, vm config etc.

Only what work is fresh windows with not updated gpu driver.

Already I have 6.5.11-4-pve #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC PMX 6.5.11-4 (2023-11-20T10:19Z) x86_64 GNU/Linux

I upgrade to 8.2.2 and kernel Linux 6.8.4-3-pve and same issue.

I'm not entirely sure but when it worked fine it was 7.x version. Do you think it's possible that after upgrade to 8 it screw up?

Definitely possible.

What I would do if I were you.

1. Backup anything you really need. (Which you should anyway have/do).
2. Install from PVE 7.4 iso from this site.
3. Recreate / Restore / Install your Windows VM & test.

If it works - as you wanted - you've got your Answer.
