I am a huge fan of proxmox i use for a long time but always with linux containers, right now i need to virtualize window server 2012 r2, proxmox allow me without any problem but my concern is about licencing this kvm with Window Server, i understand that the license must be apply to the physical server but the physical server has proxmox installed, what i can do?? wich will be the right approach.

thanks in advantage

The physical server has not to licensed, Proxmox/KVM is OpenSource, no licence is needed. But i can strongly recommend to buy subscription for Enterprise Repository and Support. For your Windowsserver it is your decision, depending what you need for business. And yes it is also posible to install Windowsserve OEM with the right SMBIOSsettings under option in the PVE Webinterface. But also yes, this is a greyzone ;)

WindowsServer2016 has a completely other licensing model. There you must license your Windows via physical sockets from the HOST. The guys are crazy...
