Hello,

few weeks ago I physsicaly removed one (from five) of my node in Proxmox cluster. In Proxmox that node was visibile in red circle or something like that. After some time, I noticed that this node was gone from GUI (it wasn't remove by me) and pvecm status command shows 4 nodes - great. In corosync.conf file in /etc/corosync and /etc/pve are only 4 nodes and there is no that which was removed - great.

I noticed that still is an entry about removed node in HA (please look at the attached image below) - not great.

So, my question is, how to remove that old node in HA? Should I remove old node folder in /etc/pve/nodes from all nodes?

I will be greatfull for any tips.

Thank you for reply.

No I didn't and like I mentioned, after some time node was gone by self (how?). The only thing left of it what I noticed is an entry in HA and a directory in /etc/pve/nodes.

Alright, I see! I just replicated the way you removed your cluster node.

Just to ensure everything's done correctly, try to remove the node using pvecm delnode - you might get error, but as mentioned in the docs:
At this point, it is possible that you will receive an error message stating Could not kill node (error = CS_ERR_NOT_EXIST). This does not signify an actual failure in the deletion of the node, but rather a failure in corosync trying to kill an offline node. Thus, it can be safely ignored.

Then it should be sufficient to just remove the /etc/pve/nodes/<your removed node> directory, as you had guessed correctly. If you refresh your browser's tab after removing that directory, the entry should be gone from the HA tab as well.

Just make sure that the node you removed doesn't power on in the same network again. The docs contain the following warning:
As mentioned above, it is critical to power off the node before removal, and make sure that it will not power on again (in the existing cluster network) with its current configuration. If you power on the node as it is, the cluster could end up broken, and it could be difficult to restore it to a functioning state.
You're probably already aware of this, but I wanted to add that just for completeness' sake for future readers.

Hope that helps!
