Interesting things that billing module developers need to do.
For more than 6 months, I'm trying to move from SolusVM to another program just because our customers are not able to do SnapShot / Backup of his VPSs. SolusVM can do all what you need, but has very bad backup tools since they have leave from develop his backup server tool.
Proxmox VS SolusVM: We cannot compare these 2 things, Proxmox is the god of the gods. What proxmox do, the SolusVM dreams to do!
The two biggest problem with Proxmox is the billing modules.
Hostbill + Ipam
That can't control monthly bandwidth and cannot create a vps with the IP already configured. (Customer need to know how to use linux or windows and config your IP addresses manually)
Don't have tools for customers take snapshot or backup/restore his VPSs.
Whmcs + Modules Gardem
Customers can't choose OS when they are on the cart. (Choose OS? This is the first thing that we need)
VPS provisioning? The customer need to get his vps, after this they need to installl OS, and need to know how to config his IPs inside OS).
SolusVM with whmcs or hostbill
1 click, vps ready to use, with OS installed, IPs configured, monthly bandwidth is managed by SolusVM (Wow, really good but...)
KVM -> You cant choose the model of CPU (only on admin control panel), you cant create VPS with more then 4 cpus, if you do this, when you go to the OS, it shows only 4 cpus (Only on admin control panel you can choose more tem 4 cpus).
And the biggest problem. Forget about Backups. Your customers will open 10 tickets per weak asking you to restore backup of VPS. And you need to do it manually, SolusVM don't have a tool to automatic restore backups.
=-=-=-=-=
Every billing module, forget about Windows Licenses. Windows is paid, and we need to provide our customers who have linux, only the linux templates, and who have windows, the windows templates.

I'm trying to get out of SolusVM, because I'm tired about restore backups.
I wants to use my HostBill license but... no way (and no support help, only if you pay $75 per ticket).
A Lot of times i think. "Yeah, now I can. This will works." But when you start to use this in a production server, you will see every module is missing something.
Solution? On-App? I'm not rich, and my customers are not rich too.
Conclusion: 6 months, I don't have a finally conclusion about this.
What Proxmox staff need to do? Nothing, the proxmox works like a boss, is a very good tool, and its FREE. They did his work, proxmox is working very well.
What we need to do? We need a partnership to develop a module for that works with everything we need.
The developer is not the hosting company then he don't know what we need, and hosting company is not the developer then he can't develop a needed module.
We need a hosting company admin to sit and work together with a billing module developer. And then... yes, we will have all that we need.
