We are moving a datacenter.
I'm about to configure PDM to facilitate that move.
It's PVE 8.x on both sides. I have a copy of PDM running in the target site.
I have a 10gb link with ~65ms lag between sites.
Local storage to local storage, no ceph.
Just VMs, no containers.
I intend to move cold, so no live migration complexity.
Does PDM need to be on the 10gb?
Does PDM act as a proxy, or do the two hosts communicate with each other directly?
Are there version compatibility requirements? If so, what are they?
I tried a migration in my lab, a setup that had previously worked, and got a version compatibility error. I've not yet had time to work on that error.
...
I have PBS and site to site sync between these locations.
If there are major issues with PDM, I can use PBS backup/sync/restore, but our admins actually came to me asking to use this new tool!
