my instance of proxmox is operational and it is hosting pfSense in a VM (and other VM's fine) that provides routing functions to my home network and all devices can access the internet and network printers ok. This telling me that routing for the most part is working for my home network.

From my computer I can ping my proxmox ip address. I cannot access SSH or webGUI of proxmox from my computer.

When connected via the console port on the IPMI of the server I can SSH back into proxmox and use curl to confirm the website is running. I can directly connect to the internet with ping. Unfortunately with my old dell server the console application is limited and I cannot grab text. screen shot of /etc/network/interfaces, curl response, pveproxy and pvedeamon below.

summary:
1) I can ping proxmox
2) console on proxmox can ssh into itself and access webgui via curl
3) proxmox (via console) can access the internet
4) proxmox (via console) can ping my computer.
5) proxmox (via console) can SSH into VMs
6) my computer (also a VM running inside of proxmox) can ping proxmox
7) my computer (or other VMs) cannot access SSH or webGUI on proxmox

also when I first updated proxmox back in january I could access SSH and webgui. we had an electrician that killed power to my server and since then I cannot access SSH and webgui. maybe this is just a coincidence. not sure.

Thanks all. Given that when I first configured it all worked, what could be the cause of the network interfaces changing?

Could a unexpected power off corrupt the file and cause the os do re-write the file without the net mask?

I find it most unlikely (if not impossible) that such a specific file change could be caused by a power-off itself. However there are certain settings/configs in other places that maybe (?) could have messed with this setting. Have a look at these posts below, although it seems they were caused by a bug, in principle you can see that "other places" can change such things. I imagine something/someone caused this. Maybe you changed something in the GUI NW?
