Is it possible that the web interface for ProxMox needs to be rebooted periodically - like weekly or monthly? And if so is there a way to do this from ssh or as a cron task? And can it be done without disrupting the VM's running beneath it?
Here is why I ask, I currently use VmWare in production - have I been looking at Proxmox for some time at home as very viable alternative replacement. We us our virtual environment simply as a way manage a small number of utility VM's for a LAN (e.g. one AD, one utility server for AV and Backups etc...) nothing really critically that cannot be rebuilt, but keeping them virtual is much easier to backup and quicker to restore. I can go for months without ever logging into the VMWare or ProxMox server them selves - and it seems for the ProxMox server interface - things tend to get real boggy and prone to sluggish response the longer I leave the ProxMox server on its own. On a few occasions, I have had to reboot the server from SSH to pull it out of this sluggishness.
This last issue I had - the ProxMox main logon page was taking forever just to load and when it finally did, when I tried logging in - it failed with un-know user. Had to ssh into the server and not know how to restart the web interface or flush what ever was bogging things down, I rebooted the entire server again.
Not something I would want to risk in production. So if there is a weekly or monthly process I can run from cron, would love to know it. Thanks in advance for any input.
