Want to test Proxmox out...nested host?

I'm soon going to be upgrading/re-configuring my home network and would like to explore the possibility of running a Proxmox cluster at home. My familiarity is mostly with VMware as that's what I use at work and I have some Hyper-V experience being a Windows sysadmin. However, I don't have a ton of Linux experience. I'd really need to familiarize myself with Proxmox before throwing it into my network but I have no available hardware to put it on at this moment.

Is it possible to run a Proxmox host inside VMware Workstation 12 including the use of KVM guest VMs? If so, are there any recommended settings (guest OS for the Proxmox hypervisor itself, disk space, networking, etc) to use when creating the Proxmox host inside Workstation 12?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yes ist works but you have to enable it.

Workstation 11 / Player 7 / Fusion 7
Virtualized HV is fully supported for virtual hardware version 9 or later VMs on hosts that support Intel VT-x and EPT or AMD-V and RVI. To enable virtualized HV, select VM->Settings and navigate to the processor settings screen. Check the box next to "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI."

Thanks for the link. Do you know if I should be choosing ESXi as the guest OS or Debian 8? Also what disk size is required for the Proxmox hypervisor? I assume I can keep it small and then add larger vdisks to the VM to be used as datastores.

What is the minimum hard drive space required to install Proxmox? It's not listed on under the minimum specs on the main site.
