Vmware workstation to proxmox

Has anyone successfully converted a vmworkstation image to proxmox?

Here are the things I have tried...
1.

Booting the vmware machine image with clonzilla and doing a source to destination transfer
The transfer worked, but the vm would not boot in proxmox

If anyone has a working workflow to do this please let me know.
