VM migration in restart/suspend mode possible?

Happy 2025 folkz!

I have a cluster with 4 identical nodes, and use mediated GPU passtrhrough through resource mappings (i915-GVTg). I noticed that I can't do live migration anymore since I added that hardware to the VM and I understand the reasons.

However in the "Migrate" popup that appears in the GUI, I only see "Mode: Online" with no possible choice selection. I would have expected to have a choice in this case to do a migration similar to CT, like Restart mode or perhaps Suspend mode. Where with one click I could trigger shutdown or suspend of the VM, migrate, and start or resume of the VM on the target node.

This could be useful when logged in remotely into the VM which would need to be migrated and triggering the task from there. With a one-click migration process it would be possible to reconnect to the machine after migration task would complete.

Am I missing something?

I have the same issue and it would be great if that could be implemented. In my case I'm forwarding PCIe devices which are available on all nodes.

Thread 'Migration type definition per VM'

Is it possible to define a migration type per VM so that it's always applied to that VM?

I have some VM's that I always need to be offline migrated for a few reasons (one is for example a connected PCI device, which is available on all nodes). For this VM's I would like to specify that, if they are migrated they are automatically stopped, migrated and then turned on again. It's like the "restart mode" for CT's when migration.

I know I can make a script that would to that for me, but I would like to be able to do that via the normal migration procedure, by normally selecting the migration...
