Hi,

I've got a very strange problem. Can you give me testing commands to figure out where is the trouble?

- Inside my VM, I've mounted a folder originally located on Proxmox host.
- On this NFS folder, I've put several .rar files (.r01, .r02...).
- When I use unrar, it often fails to successfully extract into the NFS share with these strange results:

- console still accessible from proxmox website
- but loss of network connectivity so ssh it's not working, the nfs share is not accessible
- ifconfig from the console shows that everything is all right. The VM itself respond to ping but the Proxmox host is not reachable.
- dmesg and /var/log/messages show that "unrar process is taking too long" but info there seem not interesting.
- service network restart changes nothing

Some ideas to test, investigate ? Thanks...

After digging this forum and the web, I've found the problem and a solution.

--> The virtIO network drivers (for a linux VM) are unstable. When there are a lot of I/O, the driver stop working and loses connectivity.

Solution : use the e1000 drivers which are known less fast but more stable.
