I have a Proxmox 7 node that was initially set to use a 1TB drive for extra storage (VM etc).
Recently I removed everything from the drive using the GUI, then detached and removed so I could use it for passthough to a windows VM.
At first the node machine failed to boot and I had to comment that drive from fstab, then everything seemed fine; I was able to pass the drive by ID to my VM and set it up for use as a ntfs drive within the VM. However, a few days later the drive was unavailable, saying it was RAW data.
After some head scratching I was able to use testdisk from inside the windows VM to location and make the ntfs partition primary again (the whole drive is one ntfs partition, I thought, but it appears to have a linux partition assigned to it along with the ntfs partition). Regardless, marking the ntfs partition as primary worked and everything seems fine again, but I have concerns now. When viewing the disk from the proxmox gui for that node, the disk is reporting as ext4, using the entire disks size, is Proxmox still trying to use this partition, or just reporting it incorrectly? Should that partition be showing in the gui, I would think if so, it should be showing as ntfs?
Is this the root of my problem with the drive in my windows vm, and if so, how do I correct it so there is no potential conflict causing the partition to be unstable?
Please let me know if I need to provide additional information.
