VM adaptation when moving it from PVE 6.X to 8.X

Dear Proxmox forum members,
I would like to consult following scenario.
I am upgrading PVE infrastructure from 6.X to 8.X by installing PVE 8.X from scratch and moving virtual machines backups via NAS storage from old PVE 6.X node to freshly installed new 8.X node.
What is the due diligence in this scenario to keep stability and performance of VMs?
I have noticed that there are some devices unrecognized in the Windows VMs, I have fixed that by updating VirtIO drivers from https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/stable-virtio/virtio-win.iso
I do not see any other issues so far but what else can be done to keep maximum performance of VMs?
For example, I have noticed that there are some "hardware" items of VM in the old PVE 6.X node that are no longer available in the 8.X hardware list. Please, see the screenshot of old hardware (VM from 6.X) in the new 8.X node. For example the Machine type (pc-...) in the drop down list is no longer available in new 8.X.
Is it recommended to adapt/change the "hardware" of VMs.
Are there any other recommendations?
Thank you,
Petr
