I installed PVE today and am trying to properly get it set up the way I want. The goal is to migrate off my existing ESXi homelab and onto this server. I have a bunch of VLANs here and my server VLAN ID is 3. I'm using a Unifi network here, and the native VLAN for the PVE host port on the switch is configured to VLAN 3. So I installed PVE, set it to 192.168.3.70, and everything seems to be working correctly. I created a VM of Proxmox backup server and gave it an IP of 192.168.3.71. I also made vmbr0 "VLAN aware," but when I add a VLAN to the PBS VM, it doesn't work. Nothing can see it and it can't see anything. However, when I don't add a VLAN tag to the VM, everything is working correctly.
This doesn't seem right to me, especially since I know I'll want to have VMs that aren't on VLAN ID 3 but also run in PVE. I will also mention that I installed the packages for Openvswitch because it sounded like something I might want/need to get things set up the way I want coming from ESXi, but I haven't done anything to configure that as far as I know. I would think that I would need to set the VLAN ID on the VM for it to function properly, but it seems to be working as is.
