iam trying to configure vps to connect to vlans but i keep failing

i have my host machine connected to a trunk port and assigned a static ip which is on vlan 1
i would like to configure one the vps inside the host to another vlan like vlan 5

the problem that only vps which have same ips like host can pass any other vlan simply doesnt work

i have tryied the port it self with my laptop and i assigned several ips from several vlans and it work so i know that trunk mode is working fine

is there any how to or guied how to assigned vps to deiffrent physical vlans and pass it through the trunk port ?

You can use different bridges, asigned to different vlans. Or you connect vmbr0 to eth0, and then assign vlans inside the VMs (never tried myself).

But why do you need that?

i hope i can explain the situation we have set of servers on diffrent vlans we looking forward to convert them to virtual machines

we have 3 improtant vlans

one for mail servers called vlan1

one for users called vlan 5

one for wireless called vlan 4

i have the host machine connected to cisco 2950 port configured as trunk i already tested the port with my laptop by assigning ips in diffrent vlans and all worked fine

now we have static ip for the host on vlan 1 and any virtual machines running on same vlan 1 have perfect connectivty

we have to convert 2 antiviruse servers to virtual and set ips on vlan 5

and one dhcp server on vlan 4

and some testing servers devleopers use

my problem is any virtual machines have any ips not related to vlan 1 doesnt work

i think the logical thing to assign 3 or 4 ips to eth0 the trunk port

have vps connect to the assigned ip as bridget for example

any vps on vlan 4 get a bridge to 172.x.x.x vlan 4 static ip on eth0

any vps on vlan 1 fet a bridge to 172.x.x.x. vlan 1 static ip on eth0 etc

all our servers are windows and questings out of scope really
would kvm do any good since i have seen alot of users complain about its staibilty
i mean is it healthy to convert production windows 2003 server with heavy load to kvm or xen or esxi

thas only free opetion in the market if u said kvm isnt for me

thanks you for your time

Simply use 3 bridges, each connected to a different vlan.

my problem is any virtual machines have any ips not related to vlan 1 doesnt work

I dont understand your problem. Do you have a vlan related problem, or a routing problem?

i mean i have one ethernet card eth0 connected and i assigned to vmbr0 to brdige on it the ip assigned is on vlan 1

how to assign other ips to same Ethernet card to create the bridges to the other vlans?

You can use the web interface to create a new bridge.

how to assign other ips to same Ethernet card to create the bridges to the other vlans?

Connect the other bridges to other vlans:

vmbr0 => eth0.1

vmbr1 => eth0.3

vmbr2 => eth0.4
