Virtualized OPNsense

Hello all,

In the past I have done passthrough for my NIC ports for OPNsense. This time around I want to virtualize all the ports for OPNsense. I have a Lenovo M720q Tiny, with an Intel 4 port I350 network adapter in the PCIe slot. I have configured my networking as attached. I have also attached how I setup the vlans on my OPNsense VM. I have created a second VM and configured its networking for vlan 1. The reason why I did that is the LAN interface on OPNsense is open, so in theory I should be able to get to the OPNsense GUI from the second VM....but no it does not work for me and I do not understand why it doesnt. I even added a switch to this, so I could in theory connect from an external PC that is configured for VLAN 1....but again it does not work for me.

Am I doing something wrong with this config? Help from those who have successfully virtualizxed all the OPNsense NICs/VLANs.

Thanks,
Steve

I have no solution for you, but the setup itself seems a bit complicated. I'm running my setup here with LACP to the switch and have combined ALL ports into one bond and one bridge and just have NICs with set VLAN IDs on the opensense VM. This seems much simpler in setup and configuration while still maintaining a good throughput and ALL VLAN setup is only configured in PVE UI itself (and the switch of course).
