Upgraded one of my noded to promox 8.4. to try out the new VvirtioFS feature.

When i try and mount the directory in the guest using mount -t command the command silently completes, but when i try and access the direcotry in /mnt i get this

Code:
alex@docker03:/mnt$ ls
ls: cannot access 'docker-cephFS': Connection refused
docker-cephFS glusterfs gluster-vol1

this seem simillar to this https://gitlab.com/virtio-fs/virtiofsd/-/issues/163 but i am not clear it is the same issue.

my guest is running very minimal debian 5.10.0-34-amd64 install

here is the pve ui config for virtiofsd

Ok this might be my fault but i don't why.

When i have xattr enabled, POSIX ACL enabled and allow direct IO enabled i get the failure.

--edit--

If i enable direct io by itself, thats ok.
If i enable xattr by itself, thats ok.
If i enable POSIX ACL + xattr, thats ok.

its enabling all three settings that causes the connection refused error

(should have tried this before posting, sorry)

interestingly if i enable xattr and direct io (but not POSIX) i get this during mounting
Code:
mount: /mnt/docker-cephFS: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /mnt/docker-cephFS, missing codepage or helper program, or other error.

I enabled all 3 because i had no clue what they really do and if i really need them.....

seems few if any applications use xattr - so it seems maybe i leave direct io enabled (this folder is for docker bind mount storage) and disable the other two?
