VGA Passthrough 3D Performance

I am using VGA Passthrough with a GTX 950 card and feel my 3D performance isn't nearly as good as it should be.

I primarily use an Arch Linux guest with Gnome Desktop and desktop effects are slow as well as web scrolling on many sites. I have a laptop also with Arch Linux with a much slower Nvidia card and everything runs much smoother.

I ran Unigine Valley and get a score around 850 using the Extreme HD preset. When I lower the settings, even down to wireframe, FPS don’t go up.

In Windows 10 I get much better scrolling around the desktop and web, but my Unigine Valley score was even worse at 650. I read a post on this forum regarding passthrough which recommended changing the OS to other and the CPU to Host, which I did.

With these settings changed, my Windows 10 score increased to 1150, but my Linux Unigine score remains around 850.

To rule out my Arch setup being bad, I built a new Ubuntu VM with the same settings (CPU Host, OS Other) and got the same performance as my Arch system.

I believe the Windows system is running at near normal speeds (I've seen scores much higher, but many just slightly) it makes me think it is either something in the KVM configuration or the Linux installation itself rather that ProxMox, hardware, or BIOS settings.

What could be causing not only low 3D performance in Linux, but what seems like an extreme limit as lowering settings doesn't increases performance?
