venet interface how to

hi Sir,

i'm a newbie here and would like to know how to get my venet interface directly connected to the public network. as i can see that when i create a virtual node and assign ip to it, it will auto create a point to point interface. waht happened is even if i have assign public ip to the virtual node. it still not able to get to the internet. is there anything else missing or i need to do. i read thru some how to but it is more towards on enabling the interface using private ip and also using ip table to masquerade the traffic.

please advise.
