Hi

newbie Proxmox owner here. testing in our environment with a well established VMware cluster and Veeam backup server

when deploying the Veeam worker to Proxmox, it fails with a 'certificate with thumbprint is invalid' error - and the cert was created by the process, as I can see it in the MMC Certs repository. definitely valid.

(I've managed to add the VLAN to the worker network card during deployment, and set the IP via DHCP so it actually talks back - other issues for Veeam to fix..)

I have a call with Veeam open, but it's been a week..

any ideas?

thanks

Failed to obtain the endpoint: "No connected endpoint found."

is the error in the logs. the worker and Veeam server are on the same (V)LAN and can ping each other - no firewalls in the way..

Veeam support seem to have gone on vacation

appears Veeam creates a certificate to use with the worker, based on our wildcard cert - so it errors in this fake cert saying it's not for this use.

why it's using our wildcard cert for this purpose is bizarre.

still no response of use from Veeam support.

any other good backup solutions for ProxMox?

fixed, kinda.

seems Veeam doesn't like it if you use your own certificate. it might be good for your websites, and other services, but it'll mess up the worker test and use in Veeam 12.3

revert back to a bogus self signed one, and that works fine.

early days I guess

Seriously? Proxmox Backup Server is superior to anything Veeam is currently offering for backing up Proxmox VE. I tried Veeam for Proxmox VE and it's at most a public beta. I've never used software so bad for many MANY years.
well, I thought I'd ask ;)

we're used to Veeam for 10+ years on VMware. Veeam will still be used if it's functional until we're off VMware, then we can swap it out.

just wondered if anyone used anything other than Veeam or PBS :)

Okay, you know of PBS, that's good. Have you tried it? I don't miss anything in PBS (besides being able to backup windows non-virtual-machines and all the other stuff Veeam can do, yet only in PVE, it's not missing anything.
