Hello everyone,
We are currently planning to set up a small compute-heavy environment with Proxmox. At the beginning we want to connect 4 nodes with a central AFA SAN storage via a SAN switch, because we expect a bigger growth in the future. However, I cannot find any information on how to technically implement such a solution with PVE. Some articles even state that this generally does not work.

What is the official status here and if it really doesn't work, what are the plans?

Thank you - Dario

Hi Dario,

The connection steps are the same as your vendor's instructions for Linux client connectivity. PVE is based on Debian Linux. If your vendor does not provide specific Debian instructions, follow general Linux steps.

PVE+SAN does work, but there are feature limitations that you will have to deal with.

Good luck
