Hello,

I was trying to use a USB-C to HDMI Adapter for a debian VM. The adapter works for the host. I just had to plug it in and was working but I need it for a VM. I wanted to pass it through but I couldnt find it in the lsusb. How can I make it work?

Code:
root@NAS:~# lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Your adapter doesnt exist for NAS at the time you took that reading. This can either be because
- it was unplugged
- it was already remapped to another vm
- its not a usb c adapter at all and is a displayport adapter, in which case you'd see it as an available display on your gpu.

Your adaptator require USB-C port with "Alt Mode" function which rely on GPU.
Can't work within VM.
You need USB DisplayLink adaptator , but this is a poor embedded GPU with driver required.
