I have an issue with a new install of Proxmox and OPNsense.
I have 2 x identical systems (i5 8400,64gb ram, intel x520 NIC) I have installed proxmox on these systems and updated them to the latest versions and joined them to my existing cluster. All proxmox comms are done through the onboard 1gb nic
I ahve set up a vm on each host and on one system I have passed through the intel X520 nic and on the other I have created a bridge and assed nics to the VM to test the speed differences and installed OPN sense and updated them to the latest available versions
On both systems I have the 10g connections in a LACP Lag and I use several VLANS on the network one for the connection to the fibre NTU for my ISP which is passed through my switch to the VMS via a vlan. My final goal is to make a HA pair but I was first testing sline speeds between the different setups
on the system with the linux bridge i add the tax to a nic on the system the NIC is passed through to it is a vlan on the lagg in opnsense
my issue is on both systems when I have my ISP connection connected to OPNsense I get a maximum of 12mbit upload
downloads come in at my connection limit (930mbit) but uploads are capped.
If I use a tplink router for the connection from my ISP ( and using the same set up / vlans in OPNsense) just with the WAN on the opnsense box with a IP from the tp link router I get full speeds down an up
this same behavior happens in PFsense as well I have disabled hardware offload and it is thre same speed on both systems ( one with the NIC passed through and one without and it is the same 10mbit uploads on the WAN as soon as my ISP is connected directly yo opnsense)
any ideas as to what could be the issue? It is something to do with prox mox as if I install OPNsense on the bare metal it works fine
