Hallo all,

I am running PVE 5.4-13 and want to upgrade to PVE 6.x in place.

My LXC Containers are all running on stretch and I want to upgrade them too. I use a bridged network for them

In the buster release notes I read about the changed interface names https://www.debian.org/releases/sta...h-information.en.html#migrate-interface-names.

Do I have to change the PVE configiration ? The network configuration configuration in the containers references eth0 and eth1 all over the place.

I found nothing in the https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_5.x_to_6.0 and nothing particular fro this question in this formum.

Thanks for listening !

Norbert

hi,

it should be fine.

in the containers it's normal to have eth[X].

i tested the upgrade process now and it worked normally without having to change any network config.

you can write here if you have any problems.

Yes, you may need to adapt /etc/network/interfaces, if your HW NIC change names. As oguz said, CTs won't see a NIC name change

Note that the Proxmox VE ISO installer used that new name scheme since 5.0.

Thank you for answering. I never did an ISO install beacause it was not avalaible at Hetzner at the time, so the installation is quite old. Maybe I start anew on a fresh host. But firsti have to do some cleanup.

Best regard,
Norbert
