Hello and HELP!

Not sure what happened but the install/upgrade from the GUI seemed to have been successful untill the reboot happened.

Initially when it rebooted it just gave a blank screen with a blinking cursor that finally after about what seems to be a minute boots and it looks normal, however when I log into the box and try to issue a qm command I get command not found. It appears that my installation has gone amuck. My email servers have been down all day.

Second thing I tried was to do advanced options recovery mode.. This did not help either.

I tried to insert the CD and see if there was an upgrade option but it wants to resume installing a new setup.

Help!

Hey, take a look at journalctl -xb and see what kind of errors are returning. What does your syslog and messages say as well?

Thanks for the response.. better late then never I suppose.. Interesting that I have not even received an email from paid support.
Oh well, I ended up migrating to a new server anyway just as well.. but its concerning that doing a web update from a subscription caused the server to fail at next boot.

I had this same exact issue. I ran apt-get dist-upgrade right after a fresh install and my OS crashed. I found that commenting the line referring to /etc/pve/data in /etc/fstab resolved the issue.

I also found another issue. I have two NIC cards that were fighting for eth0, eth1, eth2, rename2, rename3. I did chattr to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, and I also commented it out.

Ironically, after upgrading and fixing the NIC issue I enabled the fstab line again and the server boots up in seconds. Something with 4.x is glitched. Either the OS itself or Proxmox. I don't know. It's been frustrating. Inconsistent results each time and at least 4 reinstalls of the OS..
