Upgrade from GUI fails

Hi,

I ran a package update from the GUI and it has been running for an exceedingly long time. Eventualy the vnc window times out and closes.

The processes that are still running are

The hard drive light has been on since the update so Im not sure what is going on.

Is the hard drive failing?

It appears the hard drive is failing on this machine.
