Upgrade 2.3 cluster nodes to 3.0 without migrate

I understand the upgrade section in the wiki advocates migrating all VM's to another node before upgrade.
However, we have more than a terabyte of local storage on each node, so we would like to avoid that if possible.

Can I upgrade cluster nodes from 2.3 to 3.0 with the in-place upgrade script WITHOUT migrating off all VM's?
(I can of course stop them for the duration of the upgrade.)

Yes, you can do that. But I would stop the VMs (and as always, make sure you have a backup of all VMs).
