understanding lvmthin

Hi,

After using the system for a few months, the LVM-THIN space we used gotten full and VMs started to fail.
We increated the size of the LVM-THIN but my question is what made the disk full?

I don't quite understand what is this disk. I understand it can hold more storage then it's space, so indeed, we have 100G LVM-THIN disk, and 220G VMs spaces on it,
but this VMs overall space did not change, so why did the LVM-THIN got full?

My question was how's the lvm-thin space got full if no new vms were added.
How these command answer my question?
