I moved several VMs from an old server to a new one using simple local backups.
6 of 7 VMs had no issues, but one VM has an issue to restore the EFI Disk to the correct location.
on the source host the EFI Disk is on:
the same path as the TPM State which is on:
I backuped the vm as zst and moved it to the new server.
After restore I noticed that the VM didn't boot, took a long time till the task log mention:
It took me a while to notice that the path of the EFI Disk is still
while all other disks, including the TPM State are correctly restored to
I tried to move the EFI Disk to another drive but it couldn't be found.
I moved the disk on the source host to another storage and backuped again but no difference, not sure if it even backuped the disk since the compressed backup was only 7kb (compressed) with a 500kb EFI Disk qcow2 image.
Finally I managed to move the qcow2 disk manually from the source host to the new host and changed the config file, but in case of a real disaster recovery I would have lost the EFI Disk which might make the backup useless...
Anything I can try to recover the efi disk from the backup? At the moment I still have the source server so can create new backups and configurations if needed.
