Hello,

I'm trying to install Proxmox for the very first time for my home lab. I've been following the installation tutorial posted here on the forums by
ProxmoxHHS. I made my flash drive bootable with Rufus and I booted off of it from the BIOS. The Proxmox screen came up and I selected "Install Proxmox VE". A command prompt popped up going through the installation processes. It stopped and output the error "Unable to enumerate USB device" with "No CD Rom found" near the bottom. Anyone familiar with this error and know how to fix it?

Thanks!

This can happen for a few different reasons:
  • You used the wrong mode in Rufus - try DD mode or etcher, see our documentation for more
  • Try enabling/disabling CSM (compatibility support module) in your BIOS, to switch between legacy BIOS and UEFI boot modes
  • Try different USB ports - some motherboard have trouble booting from some ports, especially between USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports depending on your flash drive type

I use "Etcher" as a usb-tool for PM installers. Works every time so far (sometimes pops up some error on launch though - yet still works. So far had no issues booting from USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports.
