Unable to find LVM volume pve/root

Currently I'm trying to install ProxMox 4.1 onto my server which has the following hardware:
Dual E5620
8GB DDR3 ECC
1TB WD Black

I've used multiple USB sticks to try and install the OS on the 1TB HDD. I've also tied using different USB sticks and even different harddisks, but the problem I'm facing still exists. I've tried installing ProxMox 4.0 aswell, but that resulted in the same problem.

The installation is going fine, until it reboots after the installation is done. When the blue (grub?) screen appears, and selects the Proxmox environment as boot option (first option), it gives me the error'Unable to find LVM volume pve/root'.

I've attached an photo of the error message displayed on my screen.

I did some searching, and found out that adding 'rootdelay=10' to the GRUB might fix the problem, which in my case did. But when restarting or reinstalling, the problem returns.

Does anyone knows the solution to this problem?

You must use the "rootdelay=XX" option for grub, then it works. Add the option in "/etc/default/grub" under "RUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=". For example:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet intel_iommu=on rootdelay=5"

Then update grub: "update-grub". For the first boot, edit grub drectly on boot.

Thanks for your reply! The solution seems to work. But why do I manually have to edit the GRUB after the installation is done? Is there any specific reason for this?

I don't know this. I have this problem sometimes. But what i can say it is definitely depending on the hardware. In the past i had this two times. Once my own server, and once an DELL Server. And there was no USBdrive.
