I'm trying to boot
I added a GPU and monitor and got the same as the iKVM.
Next I wrote the ISO to a USB drive using Rufus, but got the same result. I tried the USB on a different computer (with very different hardware) and it booted the installer just fine.
I flash a USB drive with Ventoy (allows browsing local drives to choose an ISO to boot) and get the same behavior. Proxmox and Ventoy both use grub.
There must be something about this computer that prevents grub or the installer from starting. Not having logs or clues makes it hard. Secure boot is disabled. My BIOS has no option for legacy/CSM boot, so I can't try that. The motherboard is an Asus K14PA-U12 with an Epyc 9684X CPU and lots of RAM.
What other BIOS settings might I try? I searched and tried some voodoo changing seemingly unrelated options (disable IOMMU, above 4G decoding, etc), but nothing is working. I could try installing Debian and adding Proxmox, but I'd really prefer to use the installer. I guess it'd be a data point to see if a Debian ISO can boot.
After many hours at this, the sadness is profound. I hope you can help!
Edit: I disconnected all my drives and it boots! If I plug in even 1 or 2 SSDs, it doesn't boot. These SSDs are connected with an MCIO x8 to dual U.3 cable. The drives show up correctly in the BIOS. Why would they prevent me from being able to boot from USB?! I need them connected so I can install Proxmox on them.
I'm trying to boot
proxmox-ve_8.2-1.iso. I first tried via iKVM, the ISO shows up as a virtual CD-ROM, I choose to boot from it, and I get a black screen with a non-blinking cursor in the upper left.
