I wanted some redundancy in my router so I decided to go with two exact ChinoSpecial devices and two installs of ProxMox & OpnSense. I can deal with short down-times so swapping cabling is fine with me.
At first, I built two separate systems using the same steps. Seems fine. There are four SPF+ and four 2.5g network ports on each. If I build up two then I can get each to work.
Now I am coming to the point where I want to take my prime OpnSense and migrate it to the backup device so that I can upgrade my ProxMox from 8.4 to 9.0.
The problem I am having is that the network bridges or devices are not being recognized when I try to fire up the OpnSense on the backup unit. I really think I followed the exact same steps during setup.
I'm thinking of maybe cloning my prime boot disk and installing that ssd into the backup machine (renaming & re-ip'ing) hosts as needed).
