So I have been attempting to build a Virtualization server for my homelab. spec as follows;
Supermicro h11dsi-nt,
Dual Epyc 7551 CPUs
128Gb Ram ECC 2666Mhz
WD SN520 500Gb Nvme M.2 SSD (Primary Drive)
Intel DC P4510 1TB SSD (VM Storage)
and a couple of spinning rust for mass storage
Now I can get Windows 10 through Windows Server 2022 installed. I have even gotten Vmware ESXI 8.0 installed onto the SN520 drive but I've tried multiple different versions of Debian, Ubuntu, and Proxmox they all freeze up and restart the computer giving the error
nvme0: controller is down; will reset CSTS=xffffffff, PCI_STATUS=cffff. It'll then ask if there is a fault issue with the power management for the NVMe controller. It'll then offer a command line to try, and after about a minute or two of unresponsiveness, it'll restart the machine. Is there a fix for this? I want to switch to Proxmox for my hypervisor because I would like to use Wi-Fi to connect to my machine rather than using a wired connection. I have a Wi-Fi 6 USB adapter that is compatible with the latest version of Debian, Ubuntu, etc. But I can't get to use it because VMware doesn't recognize it, and the issues I face when I plug it in and pass the USB controller through to a VM could make another thread topic altogether.
