Hi - Theres no newbie/intro area so ill make it here along with my question.....just so you can all guage how thick i am...! :)

Recently bought an R720 for home use - a learning tool if you will. Work in IT but never get any exposure to this kinda stuff so thought i would take it upon myself to do exactly that.....

Anyway...R720, 2 cpu's, 130 odd gb of memory, SD internal card reader and a USB internal stick connected, H710 running in IT mode with a couple of 250ssd's in the first 2 bays and a suite of 2tb's in the rest (so you know what im working with)

After a fair bit of trial and error (the best way i find to learn) ive got ProxMox on there and installed and, as the title im having trouble getting a pool of discs ready for usage. All of them say Unknown apart from the SSD's that show the type "SSD". The rest for type say unknown. Smart status are ok for the HD's and passed for the SSD's

If i try to initialize SDH with the gpt command at the top i get this error -

Task viewer: Disk sdh - Initialize Disk with GPT

Unable to save backup partition table! Perhaps the 'e' option on the experts'
menu will resolve this problem.
Warning! An error was reported when writing the partition table! This error
MIGHT be harmless, or the disk might be damaged! Checking it is advisable.
TASK ERROR: command '/sbin/sgdisk /dev/sdh -U R' failed: exit code 4

command '/sbin/sgdisk /dev/sdh -U R' failed: exit code 4

command '/sbin/sgdisk /dev/sdh -U R' failed: exit code 4

Im assuming there'll be more issues but if i tackle them one at a time then ill hopefully end up with something that i can start messing around with....

Cheers to anyone that takes a shot.

If i push through and try to create the pool with all the 2tb discs i get this...

command '/sbin/zpool create -o 'ashift=12' Pool mirror /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c50034649a5b /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c500344f7f5f mirror /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c5003485be4b /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c500344c9607 mirror /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c50034593557 /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000c50083afa213' failed: exit code 1

Its changed the state of 4 of the discs to "ZFS" but two are still as unknown - so im guessing some sort of hard/forcefull removal of the partition of the remaining 2....
