Hello Proxmox,

First of all (because it is my first thread) thanks to extremely good work on making extra Virtualisation Engine such as Proxmox.

I own software & solutions development company and we decide to transfer our development work to the Cloud as one step forward to a new era in our business, after 5 years of our Cloud services which are most on VPS's.

I was bought a book Mastering Proxmox and study it for a month with all testings exercises and so and I have enough knowledge to start our first Proxomox data center on one Xeon Dedicated Server in Cloud.

I was install Proxmox 3.4 and setup 5 VM's for different purposes on same public IP and it works better than we expect for work in all domains of our needs and we are very glad to meet proxmox.

For now I have only one problem which may be trivial or cosmetics about memory usage by Windows VM on Proxmox graphic for memory usage, by all VM's and by this WM with Windows 2012R2. It shows 100% of used memory usage by Windows VM, instead of all the other VM's who show real memory usage (but it is all Linux - Ubuntu VM's). I found the solution with Balloon's, install it and setup it, but a problem is still there.

Do you have any idea what can be problem and does it allocate whole memory in real life or just in graphic?

Thanks for all help in advance...

That's how Windows works. It'll grab all the Ram you have allocated to it, so the Hypervisor will show up as 100% used. It then uses some of it for cache, some for page file, etc.

Annoying, yes, but not horrible. I've learned to ignore the Proxmox report for Windows ram usage, and now just use what my Nagios box reports as accurate.

Hello 1nerdyguy,

Thanks for help, it mean that windows VM's will always grab their allocated memory and use only amount of memory they need :-(

Do you know when Proxmox will activate lower step of memory usage, because I set that my VM can use from 4 to 6GB and it always grab 6GB?

Thanks for help in advance...

Sadly, it's not a Proxmox problem, but a Windows one. Regardless of what we do, as long as Windows knows it has X memory available, it's gonna grab X memory.

Makes over provisioning Windows guests difficult.

Microsoft doesn't like VM it just needs Dedicated Servers :-)
I have a lot of memories, there is no memory problem, just I have pain in my eyes, when I see processor, hdd, server activities (load) go fine except memory.

Thanks for all help...
