Hello all,
I'm in the beginning stages of setting up a new computer that will be fulfilling two different roles and effectively replace two different computers.
VM 1 - Will run Windows Server 2016 to act as a domain controller and proxy server. Intended to be kept lightweight (replacing an old Dell tower with Server 2003). Current plan is to have a smaller hard drive dedicated to it.
VM 2 - Will run a camera system with 8 cameras, possibly more down the road. I'm specifically getting a few hard drives dedicated for it for storage. This one will be more intensive.
Right now, I'm planning on having a single processor machine for it. I'm more of an AMD-leaning person but willing to keep an open mind. Outside of possibly enabling SVM on the motherboard, is there any potential problems using an AMD CPU (particularly, say, a Ryzen 3 2200G Quad-Core processor)?
To note, we're shooting for 32 GB of total memory on the system, if this helps.
