I have installed Proxmox VE 7.4-4 on my server, and everything is working fine, but for all UDP connections can't connect.

I have done a ping test from another server with no response, disabled the firewall, and run OpenVPN or WireGuard VPN to test the UDP connection, but it still can't connect via the UDP protocol in the client application. However, the TCP protocol is fine.

what to do for it?

Thank you.

connect to host ? to guests ?

ping is not udp.
afaik, ping test over udp isn't reliable.

What application ?
I tested install a OpenVPN on main server and VM then a test connect OpenVPN client on my PC, is works when using protocol TCP but not with protocol UDP

Same here! I am using Proxmox 7.3, and I created an LXC container based on Ubuntu Template to run a dedicated Node Red instance to act as a bacnet gateway based in Bitpool Edge Bacnet integration. Bacnet communication uses UDP protocol and port 47808. The host machine receives UDP packets, but the bridge on the LXC does not. All UDP communications, not only bacnet. All firewalls deactivated everywhere.

I created a debian full VM as an alternative thinking it might have something to do with the way network is configured on LXC containers. The behavior was exactly the same! Strangely, I installed Node-Red on a Windows Server 2019 VM on the same host, and UDP works fine and so does the bacnet Gateway within Node-Red.

Something has to do with Proxmox networking and UDP on Linux VMs

Hi,

i work at the moment at the same Situation...
i have a Linux VM running on Proxmox > newest version with NodeRed and the Bitpool Bacnet integration...
i can read with the Bitpool Bacnet Gateway without problems, but i cannot write any Data...

is this the same problem you have also??

or you can also not read any Data?

Benny

This is one of the issues. Not being able to write any data. The bitpool bacnet integration is very good, but I cannot find any documentation.

The other issue is that there is no UDP communication in linux VMs or LCX containers. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong

i was having the problem i was not able to write something to bacnet back...

but i have last week contact with bitpool and they say me there is a problem in the actual version to write to bacnet and they know about this!
also they will fix some other things and will bring out a new version out very soon....

i hope this will help you
wait a little untill the new version comes out

Grettings Benny

I have the same Problem with UDP Forwarding. Its not only bitpool.

I started a Java Minecraft Server what is running on TCP. iptables set and i can connect and play.
Now i started a Bedrock Server what is runnong on UDP. iptables set and not work.
Same for ARK (STEAMCMD).

TCP works, but UDP not work.

no problem here, Works wih :
OpenVPN as udp Server on Linux VM on PVE 6.2
OpenVPN as udp Server on Win VM on PVE 7.2
OpenVPN as udp Server on Win VM on PVE 7.4
OpenVPN as udp Server on Win VM on PVE 8.1

Yeah the Problem is inside Windows KVM.
I try a Debian 12 KVM -> Works
I try CT Container -> Works
I try Windows directly without Proxmox -> Works

Its a Setting i think on Windows KVM.
But idk. I deactivate Firewalls and no connect.

edit: Works too with PVE 8.1
UDP with OpenVPN Server in Windows VM on PVE 8.1
