the RTC on the guests, how it works

I need to know how the RTC works on a virtual guest under Proxmox.
Especially I need to know what happens, if I correct the RTC inside a guest.

I've tried to read it on the internet, but I'm not sure that I understand, especially ads the Debian RTC is not described in the documentation I've found.

I'm tying to run a super precise KVM guest, and I'm not sure if I do it right.

linux guest clock are synced through a special virtual clock : kvmclock

it's synced with host clock.

you can change it if you want

cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource

cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource


echo "newlock from available_clocksource" > /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource
